Box leagues are a fantastic way to get your members competing regularly against each other within manageable time frames and expectations on their commitment and availability.
In our experience the key to running a successful box league is to give your players enough time to play all the matches without it being too long which can make the league get stagnant.
Box leagues normally run in 2-3 months cycles and contain 4-8 players per division. At our home club of 500 members with a mixed demographic comprising of players with families and jobs we run divisions of 6 players for 2.5 months and this works well!
Matchspace sends 'auto reminders' to keep players committed and informed about their current league cycle. We have found this has really helped boost engagement with a much higher completion rate of matches. This is automatic so there is no admin for the coach who can concentrate on being on court and coaching rather than lots of admin trying to keep the leagues alive.
